In 2030, Canada will continue to build on its energy generation capacities. Current energy projects are focused on oil and natural gas, but Canada also has a lot of room to expand into producing sustainable energy. Moving into 2030 and beyond, we will begin to build extensive wind and tidal energy generation projects in remote areas such as Hudson Bay.
Building and maintaining these power projects will require crews to spend their time on-site, establishing small, tightly-knit communities. Renewable energy engineers will be in high demand, on hand to keep these installations in tip-top shape. Because these power projects are founded on renewable sources, these jobs have the potential to be held for long periods of time. However, they are located in remote, harsh environments that will probably only appeal to hardy, tough individuals who like challenging climates and a close relationship with nature. 

Electricians, engineers, and land surveyors will be attracted to this profession. Skills gained from the construction industry will also be vital. Every day, renewable energy engineers will have to confidently solve difficult mechanical or logistical puzzles to ensure that the lights stay on for everyone else. They must be able to work outdoors with minimal supervision.
