In 2030, these roles will have to make room for the media remixer who mixes and combines a variety of media from across time to create one-of-a-kind products or experiences. The media used in these products combines video, audio, images and augmented reality material to create marketing campaigns, educational tools, wedding montages, entertainment and one-of-a-kind experiences such as installation art or unique dining adventures.

Media remixers will need to carefully shape their personal “brands”, creating a public image and a digital presence that communicates their unique remix style.
Media remixers often work in a freelance capacity, developing customized content for clients. They will likely have projects with many organizations on the go at the same time. This means that they will have very flexible jobs, requiring them to have a go-getter attitude to build their business and client base. To accomplish this, media remixers will need to carefully shape their personal “brands”, creating a public image and a digital presence that communicates their unique remix style.

Job Requirements / Skills

Media remixers are highly creative, curious, self-driven, and entrepreneurial. They may have a background in a variety of artistic fields, like art history and musical training. Having grown up with so much digital media, post-secondary training in new media is almost unnecessary. Rather, a remixer might pursue practical artistic or musical studio experiences and entrepreneurship courses to prepare for a very competitive creative market.
